This updated version of May 2024 (v7.0) includes 42 NEW PLAYERS like startups, organisations and initiatives, conferences, developers, tax experts and with a total number of 230 players. This 2024 version has been edited by CryptoRobby and with input from Mathias Tarasiewicz and Boris T. The Upper Austria Federal State’s Culture Organisation (OÖ Landes-Kultur-Gesellschaft mbH) was one of the first state-owned museums worldwide, creating a permanent location in the Metaverse Voxels in 2021. Renown artists are presented there in virtual exhibitions. And they have also been maintaining an NFT collection on both Ethereum and Tezos blockchain.

Bluechip.org is a new rating agency and a truly remarkable project by Benjamin Levit, it is the world’s first stablecoin rating agency! One of the very remarkable Austrian projects joining the blockchain ecosystem in 2024!

walt.id by Dominik Beron develops and runs a Digital identity and wallet infrastructure.
Pindora by Andreas Pensold offers a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN) to connect applications with decentralised infrastructure.

Umdasch Group Ventures, a VC with clear ambitions towards the metaverse and Austria’s largest business angels network invest.austria joined the ecosystem.

The CryptoExplorer by Stefan Erben in media category is a VERY successful project, on Instagram they manage the account @cryptoexplorer with ´ more than 600k followers 🆒
🇦🇹 Organisations & Public
AUSTRIA PRO is active in blockchain for many years, as well as Blockchain Initiative Austria. It is important to know that Austria Pro offers blockchain solutions for companies, in particular a free document certification service.
Federal Ministry of Finance expressed the wish to join the landscape, and we happily included them in the landscape. The ministry is responsible for the FMA sandbox initiative, where several blockchain projects participate.
🌳 Regenerative Finance (ReFi)
ESG Chain by Andreas Böcskör revolutionizes supply chain management by integrating robust sustainable controls based on blockchain and non-financial compliance, ensuring connections between all stakeholders.
Itreebute by Daniel Gosterxeier connects individuals, businesses, and communities to promote biodiversity and strengthen the ecosystem, supported by a user-friendly platform that uses blockchain technology to make transparent and verifiable impacts verifiable.
7 ENERGY by Thomas Zeinzinger is the world's first Citizen Energy Community using a digital Euro for all P2P payments among its members. This unique method of money transfer minimizes costs and maximizes the exchange of renewable energy.
Vlinder Climate by Robin Bartmann uses blockchain to crowdfund investments into our mangrove restoration projects. The run joint pilots with Senken on the issuance of guaranteed delivery forwards and with Solid World DAO on DEX liquidity pool for forward basket, as well as with KUMO on onchain loan collateralized tokenized carbon credits. Vlinder is also a partner for Mangrove DAO which is a community of supporters for the first mangrove restoration project in Myanmar.

In addition to many research institutes, there are two more working on DLT projects worth mentioning: IST Austria with a focus on cryptography and the Complexity Hub on crypto forensics.

TACEO with Roman Walch offers a programmable cryptography, their slogan: “Don’t share your data!”
TagBase founded Manuel Mertl develops new product authenticity solution, in particular serial numbers for product which change!
We included Bitpanda Technology Solution as this branch of the company offers white-label solutions for payment service providers.
Future Verification Technology GmbH founded Annemarie Monschein offers product authenticity solutions and cooperates with municipalities in Styria and Carinthia.

Assetera GmbH headed by Thomas Labenbacher is the first regulated marketplace for digital securities in the EU, providing a custodial and non-custodial peer-2-peer trading system.

Nerox GmbH founded by Dominik Stiftinger-Lang is an algorithmic crypto trading company specialised in high-frequency arbitrage trading and portfolio optimisation since 2018. Our vast experience has enabled us to develop automated digital asset management software for proprietary trading strategies on centralised and decentralised liquidity venues.

Austrian Blockchain RESEARCH Landscape 2024
Stefan Craß of the Austrian Blockchain Center made a detailed study of blockchain-related research and experimental development projects with Austrian participation. Over 50 publicly funded research projects with 128 participating Austrian companies and research institutes have been be identified. Stefan recognizes a focus on real-world blockchain use cases, data sharing platforms, and integration with AI & IoT technologies. Here are his findings in detail:
